The global mania for Cricket is very much alive in Sri Lanka too especially after winning quite a few championships. Hence there are many playing fields around the country to promote these games and players. Athletics too has a very important place even in the schools. Every school has a sports meet annually to discover talented athletes and they are groomed to become national representatives. Sri Lanka has produced outstanding performers in many an international event. Sugathadasa stadium in Colombo hosts islandwide meets as well as Asian contests.

Up in the hills at Nuwara Eliya the Tea Kingdom, better known for the April Season has a race course that comes alive during the season along with Golf Tournaments. At the time of writing, it is reported that The Royal Turf Club in Nuwara Eliya has in its pipeline to organize International Horse Racing. So keep counting for that day that you could participate while touring Sri Lanka.
